Mother’s Day is a special day to celebrate yourself, if you’re a mother or mother figure, or someone else you consider a mother. If this day brings up less than desirable feelings for you, feel free to take yourself to complete the activities below.
Some of these activities can be completed on the Sunday of Mother’s Day, while others would be better suited for a couple of days prior. Of course, do whatever works best for your schedule.

Local botanical gardens are beautiful to walk through. Take note of the various plants and flowers. This is perfect for a mother who loves flowers. Take in the sights and the scents.

Food is always a great idea around here. Mother’s day brunch is a typical celebratory activity. Take your mother to her favorite restaurant or create a brunch at home.

If there is a movie in the theater of interest, go see it. Make this more special by choosing a dinner theater. You could also have a movie day or night at home. Show a favorite movie and serve popcorn with your other favorite movie snacks.

This is for the ones who love getting together to bond through fitness. A group fitness class works well for wellness centered moms. Go to a pilates class, spin, or boxing class.

Animal
An animal lover would enjoy the zoo, aquarium, or petting zoo. Horseback ridding is also an option. Enjoy the animals indoors or outdoors for your celebration.

Working on a craft or art project is a great way to relax and celebrate Mother’s Day. Find a local class or set up the activity in your home.

Spa
Spa days are great. What a better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than a trip to the spa. Select your favorite treatments and unwind.

For the adventurous types, consider an outdoor celebration. Go for a hike or spend time on a lake kayaking and canoeing.
