The Top 3 Ways to Welcome the Spring Season

Spring is when the sun shines a little longer and weather feels a bit warmer. The flowers are starting to bud and animals that have been hiding have come out. Nature is buzzing and there is a sense of newness that fills the air. Take this time to reflect on the year so far and give yourself a fresh start to try sometime new or redirect if needed.

Here is what you can do to welcome the spring season.

Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning is the most common action during this time of year. Clearing out space from being cooped up all winter is refreshing and calming.

  • Deep Clean
  • Room by room

Declutter

Most of us have a ton of things lying around that we don’t use or have overused to the point of disintegration. Decluttering is a great way to welcome spring.

Separate your home into categories and go through each category to see what you want to keep, throw out, or give away.

Clothes

Some of us have not hopped on the capsule wardrobe train and have a lot of extra clothing items in closets, drawers, or packed away. Depending on how many items you have, choose a set number of days and hours to work on it.

Bedding and Towels

These items can last a long time. However certain towels may need to be retired to cleaning or utility towels instead of one you use on your body. If they are beginning to lose their plushness or thinning, it’s time to replace.

Bedding can be donated if it is still usable but simply not your style anymore or you want to change up your home’s look.

Nicknacks

These are the random decor pieces or items lying around your home. Check out the junk drawer and give it a refresh.

Phone

A category that’s often missed is your phone. Go through the photos and delete what isn’t needed or useful anymore. You may have random screenshots from f things that you’re unfamiliar with or photos that were accidentally taken. If you like to do mini photo shoots on occasion, go through them and delete the duplicates and photos you don’t need.

Also, go through apps and delete the ones you no longer use.

Finances

It’s a good practice to review finances weekly and monthly. But if you haven’t been as disciplined in that area, it’s okay. Spring is a great time to start. Declutter your finances by going through recurring charges for things you no longer use or could live without to work toward other financial goals.

Eat Spring Foods

Welcoming spring by prioritizing spring produce will be beneficial to your health and can help get out of the monotony of your typical dishes.

Challenge yourself by using a certain amount of spring ingredients per meal and find creative ways to utilize them.

For example, on Mondays use two spring forward produce options per meal, Tuesday use three, and so on. Make it an activity with your friends to see who can use the most spring produces in meals across three days.

Meal Plan

Set a quarterly meal plan that has items that are easily customizable. Here are some options to help you get a head start.

  • Produce focus
  • Types: salads, mocktails,
  • Quarterly meal plan

Spring Activities

With the weather progressively getting warmer in the spring and daylight hours extending, prioritizing getting outside is a must.

Walking is a simple low barrier exercise with loads of health benefits and helps to soak up the sun.

Go for a bike ride. Of course there are spin classes and stationary bikes at the gym, but there is nothing like going for a bike ride in the open spring air. There are a variety of options for beginners (read: those who haven’t ridden since childhood) and for those who are more adventurous with off-road and mountain options.

The season does typically bring rain and that’s when indoor activities are perfect to welcome spring.

Craft activities are great indoor activities. Anything from painting a simple picture to creating a jewelry dish with molding clay. Have an afternoon girl’s night and craft together. You could read books that invite the essence of spring or work on physical puzzles with spring images.
