5 Simple Outdoor Activities to Embrace the Warm Weather

The weather is warm, the sun is out, the birds are chirping. It’s springtime or even summer. With warm weather, we want to be outside more to soak it in. Spring and fall have moderate temperatures while the summer is usually pretty hot in most locations. Regardless, doing outdoor activities is great for the health of your physical body and mental health.

Bike Ride Outdoors

Stationary bikes and spin classes are wonderful ways to get a bike ride in with varying degrees of difficulty and to take a fun class. When’s the last time you’ve ridden a bike? If it’s been a while, it’s time to get back on it. While purchasing a new bike is always an option, you can also source one from a thrift store or Facebook Marketplace.

Take a stroll around your neighborhood and town to get a new perspective from what you typically see. If you’re feeling more adventurous, take your bike along a trail or around a new location.

Hiking

Finding a hiking location can be just as fun as the hike itself. Hiking is typically done on a mountain or mountain-adjacent incline. If you don’t have any hiking locations near you, locate one that is within driving distance. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant or with a major incline. This is meant to be a simple activity.

Water Visit Outdoor Activity

Going to the beach is a typically warm weather activity. For those who don’t live near a beach, a lake is also a great option. Being around water is the important part. If you have access to a beach, walk in the sand. Take a moment to truly get a sense of how the sand feels on your feet and in your hands. Take a dip in the water to feel the coolness over your warm skin.

Take a Walk Outdoors

Walking has had such a resurgence in the past couple of years. It isn’t new, most of us have been walking since age one, but the importance of daily walking in a society becoming more sedentary is why this is being highlighted. This is an accessible outdoor activity. Walk around your neighborhood or around a track. You can find a path in your area and walk it. Take this time to listen to a podcast, music, or audiobook. You can also spend time with the sounds of nature around you and spend this time thinking and in reflection.
