Summer is coming, June, more specifically. And with that comes Father’s Day. This time of year can be challenging for some. It’s okay if you need to take time for yourself or celebrate differently.
Below are some fun and exciting ideas to celebrate the dad in your life. Choose one or multiple to enjoy.
Sporting Event Tickets
Some American sports take place during other times in the year, so attending one may not be possible for Father’s day; however, tickets to a game are a great gift option. Accompany it with team gear.

Brunch/Dinner
His favorite restaurant should definitely be considered. Besides that, try an elevated or new version of his favorite cuisine. If he loves barbecue, try a new, well rated, barbecue place. If seafood is one of his favorites, hunt down a unique seafood eating experience or the best in your location. Create a special experience by cooking it for him.

Do His Hobby with Him
This one is my favorite. Doing his preferred sport or hobby really shows your appreciation and knowledge of him.
Whether it is:
- golf,
- fishing,
- chess,
- or something else
Set up an outing and tag along with him to enjoy his preferred hobby. Make sure to supply all of the necessary tools to ensure your day goes smoothly.

Throw a Party
This will depend on the dad’s personality. If your dad is one who likes to spend time around others, this will be perfect for him or if you have quite a few dads in your community (uncles, friends, etc.) have a combined party celebrating all of them. The theme is where you can get creative. Have a theme that connects them all for example, if they are all on a community basketball team, basketball is the theme. If they love music, have a music theme.
Museum or Niche Interest Activity
Some people love museums and others hate them, but if you have a dad who loves them, this is a great option. If not a museum, then choose a favorite interest of his and explore places or activities that focus on that.
Examples:
- History: there are many types of history museums across the US. Most states have their own and, of course, DC, has great FREE museums.
- Art: there are art museums and art shows. You could even gift him with an art class.
- Cars: Whether it’s a classic car or newer luxury car, find a location to rent one for a day or two and let the dad have fun driving it. You could also visit car shows or a car forward event.

Have a Competition
This will require a group of men in your community/family for a combined event. Create an outdoor competition with obstacle courses. This can be as simple as a few minute-it-to-win-it games, a fishing aspect if there is a lake, or full blown fitness obstacles. Of course if you go for the fitness options make sure the men involved are fit enough to participate. We wouldn’t want any injuries.
Take a Trip
Trips are fun for most of us. Remember when planning this, it’s for the dad, not yourself, so choose a location he would most enjoy. It can be somewhere fairly local or international. Choose a place he’s been speaking about for a while, or choose a place that’s popular for an interest of his.
Examples:
- Music: Nashville, TN
- Golf: Phoenix, AZ
- Deep sea fishing: Florida Keys.
- Bible nerd: the Bible Museum in Washington, DC.
- Sports fanatic: go to city of his favorite team
