Whether you’re a latte girl, a matcha girl, or a whichever-I’m-in-the-mood for girl, adding seasonal flavored syrups is a great way to liven up your morning routine and make your drink extra special.
There are classic flavors like brown sugar, vanilla, and honey that make your drink taste great on a daily basis, but if you’re in the mood to try something new, choose these fun flavors for spring and summer. Try them separately or combine multiple flavors for your own unique drink.
Base Simple Syrup Recipe
The base for each syrup is a 1:1 ratio of sweetener and water.
- 1 cup sweetener
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Pour both ingredients in a sauce.
- Heat on medium heat until a slow simmer.
- Turn down the heat to low and stir until the sweetener has fully dissolved and the syrup has thickened.
- Let syrup cool then pour in an air tight container.

Sweetener Options
The most traditional ingredient is regular white sugar, but other sugars work like cane, coconut, date, or brown sugar. Cane sugar has an identical flavor to white sugar but the others will have a different flavor, so be mindful of that when making your syrup.
You could also use liquid sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, or agave. Just keep in mind the flavors of each and how it will affect your syrup.

Syrup Flavors
Strawberry
This lovely summer fruit makes a great syrup flavor. Use tart or sweet strawberries based on your preference.
Pistachio
This bright green nut screams spring. Roast them before adding to the syrup for an extra burst of flavor. Crush them before adding to the base syrup to release their natural oils and full flavor.

Lavender
This beautiful herb smells good and tastes good. For a floral note to your drinks add dried lavender.
Lychee
Lychee is popular in certain Asian cultures. It has a mild flavor with a hint of brightness. It makes a great addition to your drinks.
Cherry
This spring fruit is packed with lots of health benefits. Use frozen or fresh cherries for your syrup.

Rose
Rose is a classic floral that works well in drinks. Use dried rose petals for that familiar floral note.
Miso
Add umami to your mornings with miso syrup. Add a touch of miso paste to your syrup to embrace the unique flavor.
Earl Gray
This is a complex floral flavor. It’s recommended to use the loose leaves of the tea instead of within the bag to impart a stronger flavor since the water is already mixed with the sugar.
Pepper
Here’s something a little unexpected. We all have it in our pantries, why not try in those morning drinks? Add freshly cracked pepper for a fresh flavor. Black pepper works well and is convenient. Pink pepper brings a lovely fruity note with a beautiful color.
